Cherokee National Prison Museum - Tahlequah

The Cherokee National Prison Museum in Tahlequah is a fascinating destination where you can learn about Cherokee judicial system of the 1800’s. The history of the museum is quite unique and a great piece of Oklahoma history. At one point, the historic sandstone building served as the only penitentiary in Indian Territory. The Cherokee National Prison Museum gives a place to connect to an early history about which people may not know.
